  2. and privately with Busoni. In 1949 he joined
  3. the staff at Columbia University, and in 1951
  4. began a series of pioneering compositions for
  5. instruments and tape, some in partnership
  6. with Vladimir Ussachevsky (Incantation 1952,
  7. Poem in Cycles and Bells 1954). In 1959 he
  8. became co-director, with Milton Babbitt and
  9. Vladimir Ussachevsky, of the
  10. Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center.
